Karl-Anthony Towns of the New York Knicks remains surprised about his trade from the Minnesota Timberwolves, even long after the move. On Wednesday night, the Knicks dominated the Timberwolves 137-114 at Madison Square Garden, with Towns playing a key role in the victory.
Despite his impressive performance for the Knicks, Towns expressed ongoing confusion about the circumstances of his trade, according to ESPN reporter Vincent Goodwill.
"I'm still stunned, I mean, I'm still stunned. It's weird," Towns said after the win against his former team.
The trade, which sent Towns to New York in exchange for Julius Randle and Donte DiVincenzo, shocked the NBA community. The deal ultimately benefited both teams, with each reaching the Conference Finals. Towns has been vital for the Knicks, averaging 24.4 points, 12.8 rebounds per game, and shooting 52.6% from the floor.
Following the win, the Knicks improved their record to 5-3 as they aim to get back on track this season.
Towns also shared his thoughts on his transition to New York, a little over a year after the trade.
"I feel more like a Knick now after everything we went through last year, but it's weird to see that Wolves jersey—especially the fire black one—and not see ‘Towns' on the back of it," he remarked.
Before the trade, Towns spent nine seasons with the Timberwolves in Minneapolis.
Karl-Anthony Towns continues to process the unexpected trade to the Knicks, appreciating his new role while still feeling a strong connection to his Timberwolves years.
