Resident Warns of Danger at Birmingham Intersection
Families living near the intersection of Eton and Sheffield in Birmingham express concern over the risks pedestrians face due to drivers ignoring stop signs.

Kimberly, a Birmingham resident, described the four-way stop near Woodward and West 14 Mile as “an accident waiting to happen.”
“We have a lot of people walking their dogs, putting their strollers, jogging and biking. People are flying through the intersection and they’re not paying any attention to people around them.”
She tries to avoid the intersection when possible, but sometimes it is unavoidable.
Observations at the Intersection
Local 4’s visit on a weekday morning confirmed that while drivers were not speeding significantly, many performed slow rolls through the stop signs instead of stopping fully.
Speed and Safety Concerns
- The speed limit in the area is 25 mph.
- Tim, Kimberly’s husband, noted drivers often exceed this limit.
- He shared, “I’ve been passed on Eaton in the residential area doing 25. They’re very dangerous.”
Impact on Residents
Kimberly feels unsafe crossing the street and fears for the safety of neighborhood walkers.
“I’m paranoid when I have to cross here. We walk the neighborhood a lot and it scares me.”
The couple hopes that some safety improvements will be made to protect the community.
