Edinburgh Trams will honor Remembrance Sunday on 9 November and Armistice Day on 11 November, paying tribute to those who lost their lives in World War I, World War II, and other conflicts. The company aims to remember the bravery and sacrifices of the armed forces.
Veterans and active members of the Army, Navy, and Air Force can travel free on both commemorative days. To access this offer, they need to show their military ID or wear their uniform when boarding.
Before the remembrance days, representatives from Poppy Scotland will be stationed at the Haymarket tram stop selling poppies. Passengers will also notice poppy displays in the tram windows as a sign of respect.
At 11 a.m. on both days, tram services will pause for two minutes to observe silence, provided it is safe to do so. This gesture reflects a shared moment of remembrance across the city.
“Each year I am proud to show our support at Edinburgh Trams on both Remembrance Sunday and Armistice Day. As a former veteran myself, and a number of our colleagues being former service men and women, we are passionate about paying tribute to all of those who have paid the ultimate price throughout the years while serving our country.” — Lea Harrison, Managing Director of Edinburgh Trams
Edinburgh Trams will honor Remembrance and Armistice Days by offering free rides to service members, selling poppies, and observing a two-minute silence in tribute to the fallen.
