Joe Burgess Set to End Decade-Long England Wait After Squad Changes

England has announced their 19-man squad for the third and final Ashes Test against Australia at Headingley this Saturday, with two changes from the team that lost 14-4 in the second Test.

Head coach Shaun Wane revealed the squad ahead of the sold-out match. After defeats of 26-6 and 14-4 in the first two Tests at Wembley and Hill Dickinson Stadium, England trails 2-0 in the series and cannot win the Ashes.

England will compete at home for pride, seeking to avoid a 3-0 whitewash. In contrast to earlier hints from Australian coach Kevin Walters that they might rest players, the Kangaroos are fielding a full-strength team aiming to secure the whitewash.

Squad Changes

If Burgess and Newman play, every member of England's 24-man squad this autumn will have appeared in at least one Test match.

England's head coach Shaun Wane said: "These changes bring fresh energy as we fight to restore pride in this final Test."

Despite being unable to win the series, England aims to show resilience and performance on home soil.

Author's summary: England's Ashes squad sees two key changes with Joe Burgess and Harry Newman joining; while the series is lost, the team will play for pride in the final Test.
