Parades and Services Planned for Remembrance Day in Hamilton, Burlington, and Brantford

Local communities are preparing to mark Remembrance Day with parades and memorial services honoring those who have served in the armed forces. Events are scheduled in Hamilton, Burlington, and Brantford throughout the week.

Closures and Observances

On November 11, many federal services, banks, and postal facilities will be closed in recognition of the national holiday.

Indigenous Veterans Day in Hamilton

A special ceremony recognizing Indigenous veterans will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, November 7, at Battlefield House Museum and Park, located at 77 King Street.

“This service acknowledges and commemorates the contributions made by Indigenous veterans in service to Turtle Island,” the City of Hamilton said in a news release.

The event at the Eagles Among Us Indigenous Monument will be followed by light refreshments and snacks inspired by Indigenous traditions. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own chairs as seating is limited.

Hamilton’s Garrison Parade

On Sunday, November 9, Hamilton’s garrison parade will begin at 10:15 a.m., followed by a service at 10:45 a.m. The procession of veterans, garrison units, and cadet corps will start at John Foote V.C. Street North and proceed south to Gore Park on King Street East. The commemorative service will be held at Gore Park’s Veteran’s Place.
