Texas Democrat Jasmine Crockett 'seriously' considering Senate run

Texas Democrat Jasmine Crockett Considers Senate Run

Jasmine Crockett, Democratic congresswoman from Texas, revealed in a recent interview that she is seriously contemplating a Senate campaign. Speaking with Dasha Burns on Politico's "The Conversation," Crockett said she is preparing to invest significant resources to gather data for her decision.

“I’m seriously weighing it to the extent that I’m about to spend a lot of money to get data. So I’m a data-driven person. I will tell you that I personally believe that Texas needs to do something different if they wanted different results. That’s just the bottom line.”

No Democrat has won a Senate race in Texas since 1988. The current senator, John Cornyn, seeks reelection next year for a fifth term. Crockett indicated her campaign decision would come late in the process, emphasizing the need for any Democratic nominee to succeed in both the primary and general elections.

“I’mma be flat-out with you and tell you that I don’t think that there’s a Democrat that can take out Cornyn.”

Crockett also claimed that the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) is heavily investing in Cornyn’s primary campaign to guarantee his victory, though this claim remains unconfirmed as the NRSC did not respond to inquiries before publication.
