Communities across the Inverness area are preparing heartfelt tributes to those who lost their lives in war, as part of Remembrance events this weekend. Hundreds are expected to gather for the city’s main parade and service at the Cavell Gardens war memorial.
Residents in nearby towns and villages will also assemble at local memorials to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country.
The Remembrance Sunday procession, featuring members of the Royal British Legion Scotland, veterans, cadet groups, young people, local politicians, and civic leaders, will form on Huntly Street at 2:20 p.m. This year, motorcyclists from the Highland Riders’ Branch of the Legion will also take part.
The parade will cross the River Ness to the Cavell Gardens war memorial, where the service will begin at 3:00 p.m. It will include a two-minute silence, the laying of wreaths, and readings by Charleston Academy pupils.
“The service is a time for reflection, gratitude, and remembrance of the bravery and sacrifice of those who served,” said an event organiser.
The people of Inverness will unite this Sunday to pay solemn tribute to fallen servicemen and women, continuing a legacy of remembrance and respect.
