The Los Angeles Lakers rallied to a narrow 118–116 victory over the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday night, marking their fifth consecutive win. The team closed the game on a 21–10 run after trailing by nine points midway through the fourth quarter.
Luka Doncic once again delivered a stellar all-around performance, recording 35 points, 13 assists, nine rebounds, and five steals. Although he made just 9 of 27 shots, his playmaking and leadership turned the tide in the game’s closing minutes.
“Doncic’s playmaking and clutch scoring proved decisive in a foul-heavy contest,”
He scored eight points in the final quarter, including a key go-ahead three-pointer with 2:31 remaining.
Deandre Ayton contributed 22 points and 10 rebounds to the Lakers' effort, while Kelly Olynyk’s late putback extended their advantage before a tense finish. San Antonio’s final chance came when Marcus Smart committed an inbound violation, but Justin Champagnie could not capitalize at the free-throw line with 1.2 seconds left.
Victor Wembanyama led the Spurs with 19 points and eight rebounds before fouling out with 1:39 remaining. Stephon Castle and Jeremy Sochan added 16 points each, yet the Spurs were held without a field goal for more than four and a half minutes in the final stretch, losing their second straight game after a 5–0 season start.
Doncic’s near triple-double and late-game composure sealed a thrilling win for the Lakers, exposing the Spurs’ inability to execute in critical moments.
