Remembrance Day in Waterloo Region and Area
Remembrance Day, observed on Tuesday, is a time to honor the sacrifices of Canadians who have served in conflicts and peacekeeping missions. Various ceremonies are planned in the Waterloo region, beginning this weekend and continuing through Tuesday.
Wellington County Museum and Archives
At dusk, visitors can place candles on markers at the museum, which will remain lit until Wednesday. Candles are provided, and attendance is open to all.
Events in Cambridge on Tuesday
- Three Remembrance Day ceremonies are scheduled in Cambridge.
Kitchener Ceremonies
- The Royal Canadian Legion Fred Gies Branch 50 will hold its annual Remembrance Day ceremony starting at 10:30 a.m. The reading of the fallen begins at 10 a.m.
- The parade will begin on Ontario Street and proceed along King Street and Frederick Street to the cenotaph on Duke Street.
- The service at the cenotaph starts at 10:45 a.m.
Waterloo Ceremonies
- The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 530’s ceremony will begin with a parade at 10:15 a.m.
- The ceremony at the Waterloo Cenotaph on Regina Street, next to city hall, starts at 10:30 a.m.
- An indoor display of ceramic poppies will be open for viewing inside city hall.
New Hamburg Ceremony
- The parade will start at the funeral home at 291 Huron St., march to the cenotaph for a wreath-laying, followed by an indoor service at the New Hamburg Community Centre.
- Social time will be held afterward at the Legion at 65 Boullee St.
