BBC Radio 2 presenter Sara Cox is taking part in the Great Northern Marathon Challenge for Children In Need. Her husband and three children are proudly supporting her throughout the event.
The challenge began on Monday, November 10, with Sara covering 135 miles across four English counties — Northumberland, Durham, North Yorkshire, and West Yorkshire. Over the course of five days, she will complete the equivalent of five marathons, alternating between running, jogging, and walking through moorlands, ridges, and rolling hills in northern England.
Along the route, she’s cheered on by residents of local towns and villages, as well as Radio 2 listeners following her progress.
The 50-year-old presenter, who also appears on BBC One’s Morning Live, is receiving strong backing from her husband and three children. Known for her love of animals, Sara lives in London with her family and several pets, including dogs and cats.
Before her successful broadcasting career, Sara worked as a model and later became known for her roles on Channel 4’s The Girlie Show, MTV, and The Big Breakfast. Despite professional success, she has faced personal challenges, including the end of her first marriage.
In October 2001, she married DJ Jon Carter in a private ceremony in North London.
